This is an interactive, game-styled event that is based on the show "Are You Smarter Than a Fifth Grader?" Each guest will receive half of a ticket stub upon entry. One member of the AANS E-board will serve as the host who has the other half of the ticket stub. A ticket will be called, and that person can determine if they want to participate in the game. The participant will then be paired with a different member of the AANS group to answer a pre-selected, exam-style question relating to neurosurgery (e.g., anatomy, physiology, surgical plan, image reading/description, diagnosis, etc.). If the participant gets the question correct, they move to the next question. Five correct answers in a row is a win, and the participant will receive a free practice suture kit. If the participant does not get five, then another ticket will be pulled for someone else to attempt. The participants are also provided with two cheats that they can use: 1) phone the crowd and 2) copy. "Phone the crowd" allows the participant to ask the crowd for their help with an answer. "Copy" allows the participant to copy the AANS member's answer that is also playing. Light snacks and beverages will be provided to attendees halfway through the game.
